Blood Cancer is a type of cancer that affects the blood, bone marrow, and or lymphatic system. It occurs when abnormal blood cells grow uncontrollably and interfere with the normal function of healthy blood cells.

Normally, the bone marrow produces healthy red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), and platelets. In blood cancer, some blood cells become abnormal and multiply rapidly, preventing the body from producing normal blood cells.

Main Types of Blood Cancer

1) Leukemia

It is cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It causes excessive production of abnormal white blood cells.

2) Lymphoma

It is cancer of the lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system. It mainly affects lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell.

3) Multiple Myeloma

It is cancer of plasma cells; a type of white blood cell found in bone marrow. It affects the body’s ability to fight infections.

How does Ayurveda help in Blood Cancer patients?

Ayurveda is an ancient and holistic system of medicine, and it focuses on strengthening the body or sharir, improving immunity or vitality, and restoring balance between mind, body, and spirit or atma. In patients with blood cancer (such as leukemia, lymphoma, or multiple myeloma), Ayurvedic treatment aims to support the body’s natural healing mechanisms and improve overall quality of life of blood cancer patients.

In Ayurveda, conditions resembling blood cancer are often associated with Rakta Dushti (vitiation of blood), Majja Dhatu disorders, and imbalance of Doshas, especially Pitta and Kapha.

Ayurvedic and Holistic Management of Blood Cancer or Leukemia include:

1) Herbal medicines.

2) Panchakarma therapies.

3) Rasayana (rejuvenation therapy).

4) Diet and lifestyle regulation.
